Gordon's Bay drive is one of Cape Towns scenic wonders and is possibly only rivalled by Chapmans Peak drive. Skirting the base of the Hottentot's-Holland mountains, it traverses the north eastern corner of the False Bay coastline.
This stretch of coastline is also a good vantage point for whale spotting as the Southern Right whales make their appearance every year around September/October. Several fynbos endemic bird species can also be spotted here.
You can make use of the many pullover points to stop and photograph. This is a very unpredictable stretch of coastline and if you venture close to the sea be sure never to turn your back to the ocean as rogue waves are a common occurrence along this stretch of coastline.
