The De Hoop Dune Fields lie adjacent to the coastline within the De Hoop Nature Reserve and are amongst the largest intact dune fields within South Africa.
The dune fields are constantly changing their shape and form as winds change direction between summer and winter. They are critical nutrient sources for both the terrestrial and marine environments. Appearing initially barren of life they host numerous animal species including Steenbok, Caracal, Honey Badger and occasionally even nesting Blue Cranes. Their varying forms provide excellent photographic opportunities.
