The small town of Stanford has become well-known in recent years through its annual birding fair.

Located between Kleinbaai and Hermanus, famous for Great White Shark cage diving and the annual “Whale Festival” respectively, Stanford is a prime Southern Cape birding destination.  

It can be really challenging to find innovative ways to photograph a subject, to capture images that makes us think a little harder about the subject or teach us something new. After spending a few days on Malgas Island in the West Coast National Park, photographing the Cape Gannet colony, I was getting frustrated with trying to find this"innovation".

Fields splashed with floral diversity and colors are ubiquitous with the Namaqua National Park. This biodiversity hotspot has much to offer the aspirant wildlife photographer!

The Augrabies National Park is not only famous for its spectacular waterfalls.

You cannot miss the endemic and colorful male Augrabies Flat Lizards (Platysaurus broadleyi) as you walk down to view the might Orange river plunging over the falls.
